Anti-Inflammatory MSH Fragment Weekly Protocol Guide

KPV Protocol Guide

KPV is a tripeptide fragment derived from alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It retains the potent anti-inflammatory properties of the parent molecule without melanogenic effects. It is researched for inflammatory bowel conditions, skin inflammation, and systemic anti-inflammatory applications.

Protocol Overview

Compound
KPV (Lys-Pro-Val — C-terminal fragment of alpha-MSH)
Category
Anti-Inflammatory Research Peptide / Gut Health
Vial Size
5mg (5,000mcg)
Reconstitution
SubQ: 2mL bacteriostatic water → 2.5mg/mL. Oral: capsule form (no reconstitution)
Route
Oral (capsule) OR subcutaneous injection — route depends on target indication
Frequency
1–2x daily (oral or SubQ)

Reconstitution Instructions

KPV can be used orally (capsule form, no reconstitution needed) or subcutaneously. For SubQ use: add 2mL bacteriostatic water to a 5mg vial for 2.5mg/mL. For gut/GI indications, oral is the preferred route. Always use sterile technique for injectable preparations.

Materials Needed (SubQ Route)

  • 5mg KPV vial (lyophilized powder)
  • 2mL bacteriostatic water (sterile, preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol)
  • Sterile syringe and needle (18–22 gauge for drawing)
  • Insulin syringe (29–31 gauge) for SubQ injection
  • Alcohol swabs and clean workspace

Reconstitution (SubQ) / Oral Use

  1. SubQ: Allow the KPV vial and bacteriostatic water to reach room temperature. Wipe rubber stoppers with an alcohol swab.
  2. Draw up exactly 2mL of bacteriostatic water. Inject slowly down the side of the vial. Final concentration: 2.5mg/mL (2,500mcg/mL).
  3. Gently swirl or roll. Do not shake. Solution should be clear. Store refrigerated.
  4. Oral: Take KPV capsules directly — no reconstitution required. Best absorbed on an empty stomach for systemic use, or with food for GI-targeted delivery.

Dosing Protocol

KPV dose and route depend on the target indication. Oral is preferred for GI/gut conditions; SubQ provides faster systemic absorption for systemic anti-inflammatory use.

RouteDoseFrequencyIndicationCycle
Oral (capsule)500mcg–2mg1–2x dailyGI inflammation, IBD, gut health4–8 weeks
SubQ injection200–500mcg1–2x dailySystemic anti-inflammatory, skin4–8 weeks

Common protocol: 500mcg oral 2x daily for IBD/gut conditions. SubQ 200mcg 1–2x daily for systemic or skin inflammation. Vial lasts ~10–25 days SubQ at 200–500mcg/day.

Oral dosing: 500mcg–2mg per capsule, 1–2x daily. No unit calculation needed — capsule dose is as labeled.

Administration Guidelines

  • Oral route: take capsule on an empty stomach for systemic absorption; with food to target gut/GI directly
  • SubQ route: inject into lower abdomen or thigh using a 29–31 gauge insulin syringe
  • Rotate SubQ injection sites with each administration
  • Oral starting dose: 500mcg 1x daily; can increase to 2mg 2x daily as tolerated
  • SubQ starting dose: 200mcg 1x daily; can increase to 500mcg 2x daily as tolerated
  • Store reconstituted (SubQ) solution refrigerated at 36–46°F (2–8°C)
  • Use reconstituted solution within 30 days; never freeze
  • Cycle: 4–8 weeks on, assess response, repeat as needed
